The Director of Business Operations serves as the primary leader of business and administrative services at UCAR Community Programs (UCP). As a member of the UCP Executive Committee, they will partner with the UCP Director, as well as Center and Program leaders, to provide oversight and support to the operational and administrative functions within the UCP Directorate, Centers, and Programs. They provide leadership to UCP in activities associated with proposal development, staffing activities, financial analysis, budgeting, reporting, and planning, as well as other business and administrative activities to meet entity and Center goals.This position is directly responsible for managing UCP's Business Shared Services (BSS), a team of staff that provide business and administrative support to leaders and staff throughout UCP. The UCP Director of Business Operations is responsible for providing broad oversight of BSS to ensure UCP Centers receive quality, timely, effective business and administrative support.Working closely with UCAR Operations, they will ensure that UCP processes align with UCAR policies and procedures. Additionally, this position will partner with UCAR Operations to convey UCP requirements related to the functional areas of proposals, contracts, facilities, human resources, information technology, and all other UCAR Operations disciplines as appropriate.Position Details:Visa Sponsored Job:

This position is open to candidates seeking in-person and hybrid (combination of in-person and remote) opportunities. Regardless of flexible work arrangements, UCAR requires ALL positions to be performed within the U.S., excluding U.S. Territories.What You Will Do:Provide strategic leadership for UCP as a member of the UCP Executive Committee to support the development and implementation of UCAR and UCP strategic priorities.Provide oversight and leadership of UCP budget management, financial planning and analysis, budget scenario planning, cost of business, long-range forecasting, and management of UCP indirect funds.Partner with UCAR Operations and Senior Administrators to identify solutions to complex business and administrative challenges.Represent UCP on UCAR Operations Council and critical organization-wide project teams; assign administrative team members to represent UCP on additional councils and project teams.Advocate for the administrative interests and needs of UCP to UCAR Operations functional areas with an emphasis on continuous process improvement and efficiency.Lead, direct, and provide high-level management for the business and administration of all UCP Programs/Centers, including the management of the BSS team (20+ staff) in a complex matrix management environment.Understand the unique needs of each Center, Program, and the Directorate to ensure BSS staff resources are properly allocated to meet organizational demands.Who We'd Love To Join Our Team:Education and Experience:Required: Master's degree in business, accounting, or related field; 10 years of relevant experience including 3 years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired: Experience in a federally funded, non-profit science environment.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required/Desired):Proven experience in change management and leading teams from conceptual strategic vision to successful implementation.Advanced experience in program management and administration.The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) is an equal opportunity/equal access/affirmative action employer that strives to...
