Job Description:
The Director of Information Technology is responsible for overseeing the planning, governance, architecture, enterprise applications, and infrastructure & operations functions within IT. This role ensures the delivery of scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective technology solutions that align with SSR’s key strategic imperatives.
The position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and deep technical expertise to drive innovation, manage enterprise systems, infrastructure, and ensure compliance. The Director will work closely with corporate and site senior management to ensure effective execution of the IT strategy and to provide a robust IT service model that delivers high-quality end-user support, maintaining strong customer satisfaction.
The Day to Day:
IT Strategy & Planning:
Develop and implement the company’s IT strategy, aligning with the organization's long-term goals.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business needs and prioritize IT initiatives.
Lead the design and execution of technology roadmaps to support business continuity and digital transformation.
Oversee the development and management of the IT budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness in delivering IT services and achieving organizational goals.
Analyze the financial impact of technology decisions and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
Technology Leadership:
Lead the architecture function and ensure technology solutions and integrations are designed, implemented and maintained according to best practices.
Oversee the implementation and management of IT infrastructure, software systems, and applications.
Lead efforts in cloud computing, data analytics, and emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
Ensure business continuity through high availability and reliability of enterprise applications, network and hosting infrastructure to support business operations.
Drive continuous improvement in IT support services, enhancing end-user experience and satisfaction.
Manage IT asset lifecycle, including hardware, software, and licensing, ensuring optimal allocation and usage.
Project & Vendor Management:
Oversee all aspects of project delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
Conduct post-implementation reviews and prepare a plan to ensure solution adoption and value realization.
Oversee the procurement and integration of hardware, software, and services.
Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to optimize technology investments.
Governance & Compliance:
Ensure the adoption of an effective IT service delivery model and architecture based on industry standards and best practices (e.g., ITIL) across all IT domains.
Establish a robust IT governance, risk management, and compliance framework that supports strategic objectives and complies with regulatory requirements (ITGC, SOX, GDPR, etc.).
Oversee audits, disaster recovery, business continuity plans, and security protocols in collaboration with the cybersecurity lead.
Review service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve service delivery.
Team Management & Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team, including IT leaders, system administrators, network engineers, and IT support staff.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the IT department.
Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and development of IT personnel.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on IT matters, including emerging technologies and digital innovations.
Communicate IT performance, initiatives, and risks to the executive team.
Act as a liaison between IT and other departments to ensure alignment on technology initiatives.
Work closely with the Cyber Security to ensure IT initiatives are aligned and integrated across the department.
Is This You?
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MSc in IT Management) is preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in IT leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a Senior Manager or Director capacity.
Proven experience managing enterprise IT systems, infrastructure, governance, and compliance functions for an organization with global operations.
In-depth knowledge of network and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and enterprise applications (SAP S/4 HANA PCE, OneStream, Workday).
Experience with IT governance standards, regulatory compliance and risk management frameworks.
Proven experience collaborating with and managing IT contractors, vendors, AMS and enterprise licensing agreements with large suppliers.
Solid working knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g. PMI, Agile) and DevOps practices with a demonstrated track record of successfully leading IT projects.
Experience implementing and managing IT service management (ITSM) frameworks.
Strong working knowledge of enterprise data strategy, automation and emerging technologies (e.g. AI) is highly desired.
Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization and external partners.
Strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Proven track record in budget and resource management.
Good working knowledge of modern integration technologies is required.
Knowledge of Information technology and security standards and frameworks e.g. NIST, COBIT, ITIL desired.
ITIL, PMP, Agile, DevOps certifications are an asset.
For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $155-$215,000. Benefits: 401(k); medical/dental/vision insurance; employee share purchase plan, PTO, and STI and LTI.
