Position OverviewThis role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we’re developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin’s mission.
Job Title: Senior Software Engineering ManagerWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead our talented software engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for innovation in the field of aerospace, particularly within the manufacturing planning and execution process.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Drive the design, development, and deployment of high-quality software solutions aligned with Blue Origin’s mission.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
Ensure the alignment of software engineering practices with industry standards and Blue Origin’s goals.
Manage and optimize software development processes to enhance productivity and quality.
Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.
Lead by example in ensuring the security, reliability, and efficiency of software systems.
Stay current with advancements in software engineering, tools, and best practices.
Oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing planning and execution software.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Proven track record of successfully leading software development projects from inception to delivery.
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies.
Experience with cloud-based environments, particularly AWS.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
A passion for space exploration and a commitment to Blue Origin’s mission.
Direct experience with the manufacturing planning and execution process.
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
Knowledge of Agile software development practices.
Experience with DevOps and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements in aerospace.
CompensationCompensation Range for WA applicants is $187,266.00-$262,172.40. Other site ranges may differ.
