JOB SUMMARY
Looking to make an impact on a large-scale health information technology (IT) modernization project that will last for generations to come? The Indian Health Service (IHS) services approximately three million American Indian and Alaska Native patients and is currently in the “Buy and Build” stage for a 10-year Health IT Modernization Program. To support these efforts, the IHS awarded Totem the contract to provide comprehensive organizational change management (OCM) support services. Our team works collaboratively across many key partners to craft the OCM strategy, communications, wrap-around training strategy, and organizational readiness as the IHS implements their new electronic health record: PATH (“Patients at the Heart”) EHR.
We’re looking for a new Training Strategy Lead to set the stage for short-term and long-term success at scale within the Modernization Program. The beauty is that this is a full-time consulting manager role with Totem, so once this gig is a raving success, you will move on to a new organizational change project within Totem's portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Advise (IHS) Health IT Modernization Program team on the best training strategy to ensure successful implementation and sustainable skills. Consult on learning technologies, strategize to address change resistance, and ensure leaders and staff are prepared through implementation and beyond.
Collaborate with Team Totem, IHS team, and other contractors. You will be one of five leads on Team Totem and be part of the Team Totem leadership team for the IHS OCM Support Services contract. You will also collaborate with our client and other Prime vendors supporting the PATH EHR implementation to ensure strategies align for sustainable results.
Lead the Team. You will coach and guide consultants and associates on Team Totem. Provide feedback on work products, set expectations, and encourage performance and growth.

As a Manager, you’ll provide strategic advice and solutions to optimize business performance and achieve organizational goals. Managers lead project teams, conduct in-depth analyses, and guide a team to develop actionable recommendations to address complex business challenges. The role requires strong client relationship management skills, ensuring alignment with client objectives and delivering measurable results. Additionally, the Manager mentors junior staff, fostering professional growth and maintaining high standards of consulting excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Managing client relationships to achieve project outcomes and delivering services on time and within budget.
Leading solution design using best practices, proven methodologies, and industry frameworks for change management, human capital, and organizational development projects.
Managing multiple concurrent tasks, project financials, risks, and project reporting; elevating risks proactively to Directors.
Developing communication and change management strategies.
Leading business development and proposal writing efforts.
Guiding and directing multiple work products created by junior team members for accuracy, visual polish, and completeness, aligned to client needs and expectations.
Providing career coaching tied to performance and goals for 1-3 staff members.
Balancing of strong project management skills and developing people to achieve project outcomes.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to effectively manage teams of 2-5 individuals to deliver work on time, within budget, and with high quality standards.
Leads team to prioritize work and meet deadlines to ensure project outcomes and deliverables are aligned to client expectations.
Develops teammates and junior staff through real-time coaching and written feedback, holds people accountable to expectations and quality delivery.
Guides the direction of the team in solution development using best practices and past project lessons learned.
Demonstrates a depth of knowledge in a service offering, client, industry, or functional area—bridging our core solutions to areas of specialty and expertise.
Develops quality control standards and ensures team is operating at the level of quality and efficiency needed.
Builds morale across team and maintains high engagement.
Adjusts to evolving project needs while maintaining a calm, professional approach grounded in flexibility and humility.
Uses Microsoft Office 365 tools with high fluency.
EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS
Required Experience and Credentials:
Eight (8) + years of training experience supporting large IT system implementation (health care implementation desired) and OCM engagements; or
Associate degree plus ten (10) years of experience in organizational development, organizational behavior, and instructional design experience supporting large IT system implementations and OCM engagements.
Training Strategy Experience.
Management and Administration of Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Experience developing Blended Learning.
Design of Curriculum Validation and Quality Assurance Processes.
Proven track record of managing client relationships and projects, including work plans, schedules, status reports, risk management, budgets, and contracts.
Ability to obtain Public Trust Security Clearance.
Desired Experience and Credentials:
Electronic Health Record experience.
IT implementation within health care settings.

TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS
This is a hybrid job with 80-90% percent of work conducted remotely and up to 20% travel. Further details are provided below for standard Totem projects.
Occasional travel may be required for client workshops or onsite presence. Travel is more an exception than the norm. Totem typically defines local travel as travel that is within 50 miles from the client's location. As needed and directed by the client, staff may be required to travel locally to the client's location. Local travel will not be reimbursed by Totem. Travel performed for personal convenience or daily travel to and from work at the designated work site will not be reimbursed.
