Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Architecture, related fields, or equivalent practical experience.5 years of experience in the design of Data Center Systems Engineering, system architecture, design and integration.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience coordinating work with outside design consultants on new Data Center designs from concept studies to construction deliverables.Experience with ideation and engineering development of sustainability related technologies for energy efficiency improvement (Scope 2) and embodied emission reduction in hardware (Scope 3).Experience in driving design downselects via physical design and analytical trade-off studies.Experience with emissions accounting, reporting, auditing and standards interpretation.Deep understanding of data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure subsystems.About the Job
Our thirst for technology is a part of everything we do. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians. With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical). To meet Google's increasing LLM and Cloud demands while accelerating net zero carbon, we need to identify and implement novel solutions to flatten the lifecycle carbon emission curves for our compute infrastructure. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into a greener future. In this role, you will develop Data Center (DC) architectures which optimize the integration of energy efficiency and lifecycle carbon reduction technologies. You will partner with the cross-functional sustainability teams to identify, evaluate, and integrate opportunities for technology insertion to further Google’s data centers towards net zero carbon.Responsibilities
Enable new infrastructure technology and IT technology insertion into a modular data center portfolio targeted at improving development and deployment velocity.Develop and implement data center designs that prioritize energy efficiency, minimize environmental impact and align with Google’s sustainability goals.Ensure a sustainability focus by serving as the systems architecture point of contact with cross-functional sustainability teams to evaluate opportunities for DC roadmaps and design integration.Lead investigations and develop concepts by driving physical design and analytical studies to inform systems sizing and carbon reduction optimizations.Drive development of solutions with internal and external architectural/engineering (A&E) partners. Coordinate work with outside design consultants on new DC designs, as design progresses from schematic layout through construction document.Google is proud to be an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
