Head of Application Support
Spear Bio, based in Woburn MA, is an innovative leader in providing scalable solutions for ultra-sensitive protein biomarker measurements. Spear Bio’s proprietary technology, Successive Proximity Extension Amplification Reaction (SPEAR), employs a unique 2-factor authentication mechanism to precisely measure protein biomarkers at attomolar levels from sub-microliter sample volume. The Head of Application Support is a senior leadership role at Spear Bio and will have management responsibility for the Application Support function including operations, strategy, planning, cross-departmental alignment, people management and customer engagement. The Application Support team is responsible for product and technical support of all Spear Bio solutions for customers and strategic partners – ensuring overall product performance in the field and customer success. The role is a critical leader on the commercial team and will report directly to the CEO. The Head of Application Support will be expected to be a leader and expert on the Spear Bio platform, technology, competition, and applications.
Responsibilities:
Leadership responsibilities for entire Application Support team including strategy, people management, resource allocation, process implementation/optimization, and cross-departmental alignment.
Develops strategic plans for Application Support team, translating Product and Commercial Strategy into executable Application Support strategy and tactics.
Strategy and operational ownership for customer success from pre-sales to customer training and customer onboarding through to maintenance of key accounts and routine customer support.
Responsible for training strategy and support of new field application scientists, business development team members, and distribution partner and their application scientists and sales teams.
Oversees the development of technical customer content with inputs from internal and external partners including new data & application notes, new workflows, and assay solutions.
Implements strategies and project manages the development of external technical documentation including IFUs, product data sheets, and application note production.
Leads voice of customer activities by summarizing customer pain points and potential solutions as inputs of the new product development process in partnership with Product Management.
Regularly presents operational and strategy updates to Spear Bio senior leadership and Board of Directors.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge on competitors and key applications and develops operational and commercial strategies for the successful adoption of Spear Bio products.
Represents Spear Bio and presents at conferences, tradeshows, and academic lectures.
Requirements:
PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or Bioengineering with extensive immunoassay experience, and similarly relevant BS/MS with >5-6 years’ industry field applications experience.
Strong network in drug development, academic and contract research world is preferred.
Strong understanding of immunoassay technologies, methods, and strategies.
Liquid handling and automation experience preferred.
In-depth knowledge in immunology, oncology, or neurology preferred.
General requirements:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain sustained attention to details.
Excellent communication skills: interpersonal (verbal), writing and designing presentations.
Ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in teams.
Ability to lead a team with strong people management experience.
Ability to travel (up to 40%).
