As a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer at
The Standard , you will be instrumental in developing and leading our data infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to design and implement robust data solutions that support strategic decisions. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our data capabilities and the future of local news.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of relevant working experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of experienceMinimum 3 years of experience with PythonMinimum 5 years of experience with SQLProficiency with dbt (data build tool) for data transformationsExpertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery and Google AnalyticsStrong experience with Google Tag Manager (GTM) and setting up custom events in GA4Strong familiarity with Git for version controlExperience with advanced data modeling and ETL processesExperience designing, implementing, optimizing, and scaling data pipelinesExcellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersProven ability to work independently and lead technical projects
Preferred Requirements
7+ years of working experience in data engineering or analytics rolesExperience in digital media or news organizationsStrong understanding of media metrics such as audience engagement, subscriptions, and advertising performanceExperience in leading cross-functional projects and collaborating with product and engineering teams
Responsibilities
Design, build, and enhance the data infrastructure, including setting up and managing custom tracking events in GA4, GTM, and GA360 or AmplitudeLead the development and optimization of data pipelines to ensure high performance and scalabilityDefine and implement internal data infrastructure standards, focusing on best practices for style, maintainability, accuracy, and scalabilityCollaborate with product and engineering teams to understand their data needs and develop and implement solutions that support product tracking and reportingUse Google Cloud Platform tools, including BigQuery and Google Analytics, to enhance our data collection, analysis, and reporting capabilitiesEnsure data quality and integrity across all systems, proactively identifying and resolving any issues
