Starting Salary:
$62,000 - $68,200*
The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum starting salary for this position. Actual salary will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, budget available, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications.

Summary of Duties:
The Development and Special Events Director is responsible for overseeing and executing the organization’s fundraising initiatives, donor cultivation, sponsorships, and capital campaigns and event planning. This role involves working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Development committee to meet annual revenue goals, expand the donor base, and manage high-quality events that build community engagement and support the mission of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy and Donor Engagement:
Develop and implement annual fundraising plans in alignment with organizational goals.
Identify, cultivate, and steward major donors, sponsors, and corporate partners.
Manage donor recognition programs and develop strategies for donor retention and growth.
Maintain donor databases, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely communications.
Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to create and implement effective marketing strategies for fundraising campaigns and special events.
Capital Campaign Management:
Lead and manage capital campaign efforts, working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Develop and execute a comprehensive capital campaign plan, including timelines, benchmarks, and reporting metrics.
Identify and solicit major gifts and pledges from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with key donors, providing them with tailored engagement strategies throughout the campaign.
Coordinate campaign-related materials, proposals, and progress reports.
Organize capital campaign events, such as kick-off celebrations and donor recognition ceremonies.
Special Event Management:
Plan, coordinate, and execute all special events, including fundraising events and community outreach activities.
Manage event logistics, including venue selection, vendor negotiation, budget management, and day-of execution.
Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and committees to ensure smooth event operations.
Secure event sponsorships and in-kind donations to maximize event profitability.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
Develop and manage the annual budget for initiatives, including event-specific and capital campaign budgets.
Track and report on event, fundraising, and campaign performance.
Ensure fundraising and event activities comply with legal and ethical standards.
Board and Volunteer Engagement:
Collaborate with the Board of Directors and development committees to leverage their networks and increase fundraising opportunities.
Engage the board in capital campaign initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for events and development activities.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with donors, sponsors, and volunteers.
Experience with donor management software and event planning tools.
Knowledge of capital campaign strategies and fundraising regulations.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, marketing, communications, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
5+ years of experience in development, fundraising, event planning, and capital campaigns.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising and capital campaign goals.
