The Anna Molofsky Lab at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is a vibrant, large, basic science laboratory studying neuroimmune signaling and its role in brain development and neuropsychiatric diseases. We are part of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Weill Institute for Neuroscience, in the brand-new Weill Neurosciences Building on the Mission Bay campus of UCSF. The lab currently has 9 postdoctoral fellows, three graduate students, and two technical staff performing experiments in mice, zebrafish, and human cells, with the long-term goal of discovering new immune-based therapies for disorders including autism, schizophrenia, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's Disease.

This position is for a Lab Manager and Staff Research Associate that will help to coordinate and oversee the research activities of the lab. The Lab Manager will be a key part of the lab, coordinating and communicating with lab personnel and serving as a liaison between the lab and the PI. This will include scheduling and calendaring of lab events, presentations, and retreats. The Lab Manager will also manage equipment maintenance and repairs, take primary responsibility for organizing reagents and laboratory samples, and perform other tasks needed to keep the lab running efficiently and effectively.

As a Staff Research Associate, they will also conduct highly independent and specialized research projects in the lab, and are expected to take ownership of experimental design, analysis, and presentation. This may include such as analysis of immune cell populations in the brain by high-dimensional flow cytometry, high-resolution tissue histology for quantification of neuronal and immune populations, performing and analyzing mouse models of disease, including models of Alzheimer's Disease, viral infection, and stroke.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, administrative, social, and communication skills, will be able to independently troubleshoot and problem-solve daily laboratory challenges, and will possess a genuine interest in biomedical science and science administration. The ideal candidate will also have substantial prior bench and research experience in neuroimmunology and the capacity to perform independent research.Required Qualifications

BA/BS in a related science and 3+ years directly related work experience; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.3 or more years or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a biomedical research setting.3 or more years or an equivalent combination of education and experience working with rodents in a biomedical research setting.Excellent organizational and communication skills.Excellent quantitative skills.Proficiency in basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, calendaring (including google calendars and outlook), cloud storage (Dropbox), and other online tasks.Preferred Qualifications

BA/BS level training in neuroscience or biomedical sciences with an immunology focus.Master's or PhD in neuroscience or biomedical sciences.Expertise in multi-color flow cytometry of immune populations in the brain.Expertise in brain histology.Expertise in neuroimmunology.About UCSF
