YMCA Camp Menogyn in Grand Marais, MN is seeking an experienced Camp Program Director! The position offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package, including free membership and program discounts, with compensation starting at $43,230 depending on experience and qualifications.Job Summary:The Camp Program Director is responsible for developing and coordinating relevant programs, conferences, and retreats offered at the camp. The incumbent works closely with the Camp Executive Director and/or Senior Program Director to market high-quality programs and facilities year-round.Essential Functions:Works with the Camp Leadership, Board of Directors, and respective committees to ensure high-quality programs.Develops and implements marketing and promotion plans and recruits participants.Observes camper and staff behavior, enforces safety regulations, and applies behavior-management techniques.Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises seasonal or part-time staff.Develops and implements new and existing programs, including day-to-day operations.Evaluates and reviews programs to ensure high quality and equitable outcomes.Inspects and replaces program area equipment as needed.Manages all programs to meet annual budget and enrollment goals.Maintains certifications, accreditations, and necessary reports.Supports Annual Fund, Y of the North Committees, Community Boards, and partnership efforts.Supports and directs events for community development and fundraising.Participates in Y of the North initiatives as directed by the Adventure team leadership.Oversees risk management to ensure a safe customer experience.Assists with camp and adventure duties as assigned.Relationships:This position reports to Camp Executive Director and/or Senior Program Director. The incumbent interacts regularly with all camp and Y staff, volunteers, program participants, and community partnerships. The Program Director supervises seasonal and part-time staff and works closely with the Executive Director and/or Senior Program Director in planning and implementing programs.Qualifications:Required:Minimum age of 25 years.Minimum of three (3) years camp or related experience.Minimum of one (1) camp season of supervisory experience.Experience in developing and administering camp or youth programs.Demonstrated skill in program leadership and management.Experience in outdoor living skills, first aid, and risk management.Skills in group development, recruitment, training, and supervision of staff and volunteers.Adult and Pediatric First Aid & CPR/AED certification (may be obtained upon hire but must be completed before supervising youth).Preferred:Ability to become DQF (formerly DOT) certified driver.Work Conditions:Must be capable of carrying loads of up to 50 pounds and traversing hilly terrain.Works in a variety of environmental factors.Performs essential program support to camp activities, which may include various physical tasks.Ability to perform outdoor tasks in different climates.Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental hazards.Additional Notes:This job description represents the major functions of the position but is not intended to be all-inclusive.
