We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Chief of Staff to join our team, reporting directly to the CEO of the Utilities division. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a trusted partner to the CEO, playing a critical behind-the-scenes role in driving efficiency and strategic decision-making across the organization. The Chief of Staff plays a critical role in enabling the CEO to focus on high-level priorities by handling key strategic, operational, and communication tasks. Their role is multifaceted and involves both strategic thinking and tactical execution. This role is ideal for a high-performing individual who thrives on supporting executive leadership and driving impactful outcomes for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a complementary partner to the CEO, facilitating communication and problem-solving with internal and external stakeholders.
Act as a strategic advisor, supporting innovation, driving process improvements, and ensuring key initiatives move forward.
Pull and analyze data to inform business decisions, develop comprehensive business review materials, and create compelling presentations for the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Take ownership of ad hoc processes and strategic initiatives as needed to support organizational success.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Anticipate the needs of the CEO and proactively provide relevant information and context for decision-making.
Act as a point of contact between the CEO and employees or other stakeholders (Veolia Group) and manage cadence for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Maintain the CEO’s and CFO’s calendars, set up meetings, make travel arrangements and complete timesheets and expense reports.
Prepare reports, presentations, and communication materials for meetings, board presentations, and external engagements.
Track progress on initiatives and provide regular updates to the CEO, SLT, and other relevant stakeholders.
Facilitate leadership team meetings, including setting agendas, tracking action items, and ensuring follow-up. Ensure that the CEO’s priorities are clearly communicated and cascaded throughout the leadership team.
Assist in preparing board meeting agendas, materials, and minutes. Ensure follow-up on action items arising from executive meetings and board discussions.
Lead special projects and initiatives as directed by the CEO, ensuring they are executed effectively and within deadlines.
Manage ad-hoc processes and strategic initiatives as needed on behalf of the CEO.
Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including external partners, government agencies, and industry associations.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Political Science or related field.
Master's Degree or equivalent is preferred.
5-7 years of experience in strategy, business operations, or an equivalent field (consulting, strategy analyst, or business analyst backgrounds at growth companies preferred).
Solid project management skills with a proven ability to track, prioritize and drive multiple concurrent projects to success.
Proven ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing business environments.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
A demonstrated ability to work behind the scenes, maintaining the highest level of trust and confidentiality.
Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop and implement processes that enhance leadership effectiveness.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging with senior leadership.
Demonstrates excellent collaboration skills by fostering a cooperative and inclusive environment across teams and working seamlessly with various levels in the organization to achieve shared goals.
A proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving and project management.
Ability to take initiative, recommend improvements and make fair and consistent decisions that align with organizational strategy and values.
Proficient with large data sets and the tools used to manipulate those datasets (Google Platform).
Excellent demonstrated project management skills.
Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and complexity.
Successfully navigate between tactical and strategic objectives.
Work Environment:
Ability to tolerate a fast-paced, constantly changing environment where after-hours work is periodically required.
Travel as needed to the utilities (NJ, NY, PA, DE, RI, and ID) and corporate events.
The position is based in Paramus, NJ - Hybrid (1 day remote).
