IT Support Specialist

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
Provide Technical Support: Offer assistance to end-users regarding hardware, software, and network-related issues, as well as troubleshooting problems to resolution.
Install and Configure Systems: Set up new computers, install operating systems software applications, and ensure proper configuration for network access.
Maintain IT Infrastructure: Monitor and maintain computer systems, networks, and peripherals, ensuring uptime and optimal performance.
User Account Management: Create, modify, and delete user accounts, ensuring proper permissions and access levels based on organizational policies.
Troubleshoot Network Issues: Diagnose and resolve network connectivity problems, including issues related to switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
Hardware and Software Upgrades: Plan and execute hardware and software components upgrades, ensuring compatibility and minimal disruption.
Backup and Disaster Recovery: Implement and verify backups and develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
Security Management: Monitor and maintain antivirus software, firewall configurations, and other security measures to protect systems and data from unauthorized access or breaches.
Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, user guides, and support procedures. Generate reports on IT support metrics and trends.
Provide Training and Support: Conduct training sessions or create user manuals to help employees understand and effectively use technology resources.
Vendor Management: Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for procurement, support, and maintenance of IT systems and services.
IT Asset Management: Track and manage IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and other equipment, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and budget constraints.
Stay Current with Technology Trends: Continuously update knowledge of technology trends, products, and best practices through self-study, workshops, and seminars.
Respond to IT Requests: Prioritize and respond to IT service requests promptly, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with users.
Compliance and Policy Adherence: Ensure adherence to IT policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, maintaining security and privacy standards.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Education & Experience:
Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), or equivalent highly desirable.
3+ years of experience in IT support roles with hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues in a business environment.
Qualifications:
Experience and proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows operating systems.
Familiarity with productivity software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)
Knowledge and understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems efficiently.
Familiarity with antivirus software, firewalls, and best practices in IT security.
Experience in creating technical documentation, network diagrams, and support procedures.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical users.
SYSPRO or other SQL-based ERP administration experience a plus.
Knowledge of maintaining IT inventory and asset tracking systems.
Ability to manage small IT projects, upgrades, or deployments.
Previous interaction with and management of IT service providers and vendors.
Advanced or higher-level certifications such as MCSE, ITIL Foundation, Cybersecurity or specialized vendor certifications highly preferred.

Periodic travel may be required to support customer meetings and training classes.
ITAR Requirements:
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Physical Demands:
The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
This position will require a working environment mix comprised of office, shop floor, field and customer locations (both domestic and international). While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to static electricity; explosives in test conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.
