The Lawrence Lab (lawrence-lab.org) is seeking a Staff Research Associate to support biochemical and structural biological projects, and will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research projects in the lab and to author publications. The position will support protein expression via bacterial and human cell cultures, protein purification, protein characterization, and data management. The successful applicant will contribute to projects defining mechanisms of activation of stress sensors, combining cell biological experiments with in vitro enzymatic and structural assays defining conformational regulation of stress response signaling machines. Additionally, the successful applicant will be involved in building the Lawrence Lab from the ground up, supporting implementing data management systems, ordering and installing new lab equipment, and managing lab reagent ordering. REQUIREDBS in Molecular Biology or related field.Previous experience working in a laboratory setting and conducting research.Ability to work independently.Working skills with basic molecular biology laboratory equipment.Ability to perform several tasks at once, communicate clearly and work in a team environment. Ability to learn new methods and protocols.Must be responsible and able to work independently, without close supervision.Knowledge of PC and Macintosh computers, spreadsheet and word processing programs.Ability to perform basic technical duties such as logging in reagents and data analyses.High organizational skills; Ability to organize lab stocks and keep careful records in lab databases and lab notebooks.PREFERREDGeneral knowledge of cell and molecular biology.Knowledge of protein purification techniques, including bacterial or human cell expression, column chromatography, and S.D.S. page gel electrophoresis is highly valuable.Previous experience in managing basic laboratory safety protocols highly desirable.
