Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MODescription:Metric5 is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for work leading a software development project within the Department of Defense / NGA. The Senior Systems Engineer will work with an O&M team to securely maintain and deploy updates to the existing web-based knowledge repository that is built upon AWS Cloud technologies to all client domains. You are comfortable working side by side with other engineers, product managers, designers, and clients, making decisions together to quickly deliver valuable working software to clients and their users. You have a passion to maintain secure high-quality, reliable, and available software solutions and are a fast learner. This position is on-site in either Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO with some flexibility to work remotely.Required Skills:5+ years of experience with system administration, system patching and related dutiesDesigning, provisioning, monitoring, and administering AWS-cloud based applicationsBuilding Microsoft Core Technologies on AWSFile Access RightsSecurity+ CertificationSystem Security/PatchingServer Installation (Operating System)Tier 2 troubleshooting of ServersTier 2 troubleshooting of VDI EnvironmentMonitoring system health, report and resolving hardware and software issuesDevelops and documents Standard Operating Processes and ProceduresFollow up on customer support problemsWill require occasional after hours and/or weekend work to support operational issue resolution and maintenance windowsOther duties as assignedIn depth knowledge of AWS servicesHands on experience in AWS resource provisioningKnowledge of application deployment and data migration on AWSAbility to design and operate high availability applications on AWS across availability zones and availability regionsAbility to design applications on AWS taking advantage of disaster recovery design guidelinesKnowledge of monitoring, logging and cost management tools that integrate with AWSExperience in AWS Networking – Direct Connect/VPC, NACL’s, security groups, etc.Ability to work closely with business to understand and incorporate non-functional requirements in the application architectureBachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related technical degree required and 2+ years’ experience with system administration, system patching and related dutiesUnderstanding of Microsoft domain and networking technologies.Comprehension of computer technology and ability to quickly learn related concepts and new software products.Desired Skills:AWS CertificationExperience with Service+Experience configuring and maintaining Windows ServersITIL Foundations certificationGood oral and written communications skills with experience in delivering to a Government customerExperience serving in an “on-call” role supporting emergency response to application or system issuesSalary Range:
$130,000 - $165,000 annuallyEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related technical degree required and 5+ years’ experience with system administration, system patching and related dutiesClearance:
