Minimum Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree

Certification(s):

Security+ or other active IAT II/III

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Linux System Administration:

Expertise in managing Linux distributions (CentOS, RHEL, Oracle), including installations, configurations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Cloud Environment Management:

Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Elasticache) and familiarity with console access for provisioning, maintaining, and monitoring servers in a cloud environment.

System Security Administration:

Proficiency in system security tasks, including STIG hardening, patch management, and applying security updates.

Disaster Recovery and Backup:

Knowledge of performing snapshots, disaster recovery procedures, and backup solutions to ensure system resilience and data integrity.

System Performance Tuning:

Skills in optimizing system performance, including monitoring and tuning CPU usage, disk I/O, and response times.

Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:

Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve Tier 1 issues effectively, with strong communication abilities.

Scripting and Automation:

Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automating administrative tasks and managing system operations.

Configuration Management:

Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) for maintaining consistent system configurations.

Documentation Development:

Ability to develop and maintain critical documentation such as System Installation Plans (SIPs), System Architecture Guides (SAGs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and user guides.

Vendor and Hardware Evaluation:

Skills in evaluating and recommending hardware and software products, and making informed purchase decisions based on system needs.

ElasticSearch and Related Tools:

Experience with ElasticSearch, Kafka, Docker, Openshift, Keycloak, and Wildfly for managing and deploying applications and services.

PKI and SSL Management:

Understanding of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates, SSL/TLS for securing communications and services, and managing service accounts.

Multiple Environment Management:

Experience in maintaining and supporting various environment types, including physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

Agile Methodologies:

Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies for participating in and contributing to agile development and operations teams.

Security Audits and Compliance:

Experience supporting security audits and testing events to ensure compliance with security standards and regulations.

Performance Monitoring and Management:

Skills in continuously monitoring and managing system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times, to maintain operating efficiency.

Service Provisioning and Maintenance:

Ability to provision, configure, and maintain critical services and applications, ensuring their availability and performance.
