Our client in San Diego has a Direct Hire opportunity for a Quality Manager. This is a 1st shift position working 10 hours daily plus occasionally on Saturday.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, food process engineering, industrial engineering or similar is requiredSolid compliance of food manufacturing policies and procedures (GMP’s, SSOP’s, HACCP, SQF, all prerequisites)Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to train employees with regards to quality and food safetyStrong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)Minimum 10 years in food processing experienceEnsure new regulations (i.e., FSMA, USDA) are accurately implementedMust have HACCP, SQF, and FSQA Food Defense certificationsSalary: $115,000 - $140,000 per yearShift: FirstWork hours: 7 AM - 5 PMEducation: Bachelors
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
Manage and sustain all SQF required programsLead efforts to achieve >90% SQF scoresReview, update and create HACCP plans to keep up with business needsOrganize, maintain library, and file all QA documents/programs to easily present or compile information as neededMonitor product manufacturing to ensure company compliance with regulatory SSOP, GMP, HACCP, and SQF standards for third party audits and customer requirementsEstablish manufacturing specifications, standards, protocols and procedures for quality control and new product developmentDevelop and execute training programs that support the Company’s objectives regarding quality and food safety plantwideSupport sales with compliance in label submittal for new productsCreate, update, manage product specifications, and maintain organized filesKeep up with plant certifications (Kosher, Halal, Organic, GMO, GF, USDA, FDA, and specific customer audits)Manage 3rd shift sanitation crew to ensure compliance with equipment and building sanitationCoach and develop subordinates, provide training, certifications, and other growth opportunitiesConduct auditsApply timely discipline, hire and terminate employees as neededHands-on, must spend time in the processing rooms to understand quality challenges, coach, and train othersEnsure all swab testing, pH, sodium, bricks, etc. are consistent with plant process needsSkills
