This is a full time, exempt position located on-site in Decatur, IL.

ADM Operations is seeking an experienced Process Automation Segment Manager supporting process manufacturing assets in Decatur, Illinois. The complex network of manufacturing plants at ADM’s Operations Headquarters in Decatur gives this specific role the unique opportunity to impact a large percentage of the business while still being able to lead an in-person team.

The Process Automation Segment Manager will coordinate their team’s efforts with Operations and other technology teams to support operations and execute strategic projects. We are seeking a candidate that has an expert level of understanding of Industrial Automation systems, and interdependencies with other disciplines. You should have strong understanding of project execution methodologies and be comfortable working with a global team. In this role, you will be accountable for leading large and complex projects in your assigned business technologies within ADM with a direct impact on our business strategy. In this role you will coordinate with other business segments to share resources and opportunities to allow the process automation team to operate on a global level. You will also help align with other technology teams and Operations Leadership to drive optimization projects and continuous improvement, as well as drive standardization, and help set goals and development plans for your teams that align with the Operations.

Responsibilities / Duties:

Responsible for safe, reliable, secure process automation systems in plants within area of responsibility

Ensure all process automation deliverables for assigned segment meet the needs of operations and of projects including functioning as intended, on time, and within budget through close partnership with Operations and technology centers of excellence

Directly partner with business leadership to plan for process automation resources in alignment with the business portfolio

Identify potential value creation opportunities and mitigation of loss and appropriately engage the business, functional technology teams, and subject matter expert networks to resolve and replicate throughout the organization

Develop team members by providing guidance, training resources, and individual development plans for a strong cross-functional team; lead continuous colleague development assessments for team members; cultivate leadership and technical skills within the team through mentorship and assignments that empower and enable individual contributors

Proactively mitigate risk and optimize processes through new technology and continuous improvement of automation systems, including leading and fostering future vision for process automation innovation

Drive defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for process automation aligned with Global Operations. Accountable for segment KPIs. Support further development of these KPIs in a leadership role in a Measure of Success (MOS) team

Develop, written standards and drive successful change management throughout area of responsibility aligned with the overall standards development for the PA (process automation) and OT (operational technology) technology center globally

Ensure sustainment of ADM’s continuous improvement methodology, Performance Excellence, by driving standard work and continuous colleague development

Accountable for understanding and full compliance with safety and other Environment, Health, & Safety (EH&S) requirements

Manage third-party suppliers / contractors (where applicable)

Some on-call work will be required

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a similar technical discipline

A minimum of 7 years of Process Automation, Engineering, Manufacturing or related experience

Extensive knowledge and experience with one or more process control platforms (Rockwell Plant PAx, Emerson DeltaV, Valmet (Novatech) D/3, PI, Siemens, or Honeywell)

Proven experience in intelligent process automation planning and development

Highly self-motivated and self-directed

Strong communication skills, with ability to communicate complex work at a conceptual level as well as at a hands-on, practical level

Strong documentation and organizational skills in order to enhance organizational vision and clarity

Ability to skillfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and succeed in an environment of competing priorities

Demonstrated commitment to environmental, safety, and quality compliance and improvement

Demonstrated ability to drive change, resolve conflict in a healthy and effective way influence multiple plants, and be comfortable working on the factory floor

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment

Demonstrated leadership ability including working with remote team members

Financial acumen and ability to effectively manage and control costs

Willingness to travel domestically and possibly internationally as a regular part of the job, less than 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous leadership experience with direct reports

Continuous and batch process automation experience

Experience with control system migration, modernization, and industrial transformation projects

Packaging, Warehouse Management, and/or Robotics experience

Working knowledge of Cybersecurity, OT networking, and system integration experience

Continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing environment using Toyota Production System, Danaher Business System, or other lean methodology
