Responsibilities:
Lead the execution of process and equipment design for major CAPEX project development for reliability.
Ensure technologies are focused on reliability—safety, operability, maintainability, and production-friendliness—with consideration of life cycle cost.
Support Front-End Load (FEL), pre-FEED, and FEED development for projects, including process scope and design solutions for growth projects in Ingredion’s continuous process and discrete manufacturing businesses.
Collaborate with Reliability and Process Engineering to develop global design standards for constructability, operability, and maintainability, considering technical and process safety needs.
Review and improve upon Ingredion’s extensive list of equipment design standards to ensure that they will promote overall process reliability.
Working with the project and process teams to evaluate designs for commonality in leveraging global synergies that lead to efficiency in design and procurement.
Provide technical support as needed for major project development by participating in design reviews and bringing together reliability, plant operations, process engineering, and project teams.
Be part of process alternative reviews during design and provide reliability-focused design that drives economic value.
Be part of Value Engineering sessions for large capital projects.
Collaborate with regional and plant reliability and plant operation.
Ensure project teams consider and deliver maintenance and reliability strategies inside the asset manager, operator care strategies inside the asset manager (SAP), maintenance and operational manuals before equipment start-up, training, and tools.
Ensure Mechanical Stores' spending composes the ROI evaluation. It delivers to the plant an optimized list of items to be added to the stores supported by the PM strategies developed inside the project.
Work with manufacturing sites to develop and implement productivity projects, demonstrated knowledge of engineering techniques to optimize manufacturing processes.
Attend and actively participate in leadership and project team meetings, present technical content in terms of reliable designs, and be adept at communicating content/level of detail to the audience.
Articulate trade-offs and business case effects of technical scope or changes to the appropriate leadership team.
Provide process improvement ideas based on reliable design to drive value in cost, quality, schedule, and safety.
Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil/structural functions, and equipment vendors.
Be familiar with the work process, permitting, and quality policy and apply as appropriate to each project.
Document all standards, specifications, and work processes in a clear, concise format in a centralized location.
Standardize required tools by project type and complexity to ensure a reliable project delivery.
Ensure the team defines the technical standard of equipment for each application with an approved vendor list for each asset class.
Participate in SAT (Supplier Acceptance Test) Validation for defined size of projects.
Collaborate with the application of the front-end load concept to avoid design changes in advanced stages.
Collaborate with Eng team to manage the list of improvements and best practices applied in regions that can be replicated.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical or electrical engineering; Master's preferred but not required.
Minimum 15 plus years of Process Engineering/Operations and/or design engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing sector and experience with Front End Loading (FEL); Experience in maintenance and reliability preferred but not required.
Additional Qualifications:
Significant experience in process design & start-up on large capital projects $5M-$100M.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience with developing cost-effective project scopes and justifying project value.
Excellent team facilitation skills leading cross-functional teams with manufacturing, technology, and business representatives.
History of managing projects as a Project Manager or Project Engineer.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills having the ability to clearly and simply visualize message on presentations.
Intelligent risk taker who fully considers pros & cons to ensure the benefits outweigh the risks.
