Job Summary/Basic Function:

The social work program at Concordia College is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to serve as the

Master of Social Work Field Director . This position requires a master’s degree in social work and a minimum of two years post-masters experience to fill this professionally prepared continuing appointment. Conversion to a tenure-eligible position is possible with a doctoral degree. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and level of experience. Position to begin April 1st, 2025.

Description:

The Field Director will oversee the placement and supervision of students in social work internships, ensuring students gain valuable, hands-on experience in the field. This includes building and maintaining partnerships with community agencies, providing support and guidance to field supervisors, and ensuring students meet program competencies. This position will teach a range of social work courses across both undergraduate and graduate curricula. Additional duties include advising social work students and contributing to the overall development and success of the field program. This position will be a 9-month academic contract with an additional summer contract to be distributed across the summer months, as negotiated and necessary to meet the program’s needs.

The Concordia College Social Work Program has recently received approval from the Higher Learning Commission to launch its Master of Social Work (MSW) program. With our eligibility document submitted to the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), we are excited to move forward and plan to welcome our first cohort in 2025. Rooted in the mission “to prepare compassionate clinical social workers committed to evidence-based and culturally responsive practice to empower individual and community well-being in pursuit of a more just world,” this program represents a vital addition to our commitment to social justice and community impact. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and launching this transformative program, helping to build a strong foundation for its future success.

Minimum Qualifications

MSW degree required.

Two years post-MSW professional social work experience.

Eligible for social work licensure in Minnesota.

Ability to effectively teach generalist and clinical practice across both programs.

Preferred Qualifications

DSW or Doctoral degree in related field.

Five years post-MSW professional social work experience.

Clinical Social Work License with clinical practice experience and effectiveness.

College level teaching experience.

Experience working with community partners to place and monitor students in internship/practicum sites or experience as a social work supervisor of college students.
