Base salary is $900/week while in residence, with increases possible based on education and experience.Job Summary/Basic Function

The dean (summer language program director) of a Concordia Language Village is responsible for the overall operations of the summer program of their individual Village. This includes planning, recruiting, and implementation in the areas of program, staff, budget, operations and public relations. The dean is responsible for implementing a program that reflects the mission of Concordia Language Villages. The dean is a member of the Language Community and participates in the Village Leadership Council.Responsibilities

Program

Work in a productive, collegial relationship with CLV seasonal and year-round staff.Be in residence and an active member of your Language Village.Develop or maintain the educational program and schedule.Ensure compliance with the standards of Cognia and the American Camp Association.

Staffing

Review summer seasonal staff applications and conduct interviews.Direct the implementation of Individual Village Orientation.Conduct regular staff meetings for communication and planning.

Program Support

Be a steward of your Language Village site and resources.Monitor and adhere to budget relating to program expenditures.

Communication and Public Relations

Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and staff.Support the administrative team in content development for publications.

Minimum Qualifications

Intermediate-High or higher proficiency in Spanish and EnglishCommitment to immersion language and cultural educationKnowledge of effective teaching strategies for second language learningExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong organizational and management skillsBachelor’s degree in related fieldMinimum age of 25Ability to perform the essential functions of the dean positionAvailability for all orientation and session datesPossess valid work authorization for the United StatesPreferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or Ph.D in related fieldPrevious leadership position at Concordia Language Villages or similar environmentPosition Opening Date
