Summary
Denbigh United Presbyterian Preschool is a small church sponsored religious exempt half day preschool program for ages 2 1/2 to 4 year old students located in Newport News, VA. We are searching for a director for the 2025-2026 school year.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Administrative responsibilities to include planning the yearly preschool calendar, managing the preschool staff, and maintaining student files, submitting paperwork annually for religious exempt status
Fiscal responsibilities to include preparing an annual budget, purchasing supplies and equipment for the preschool program, completing monthly payroll report for the treasurer, collecting tuition/payments from families and depositing funds, maintaining accurate records for payments
Preparing registration forms/summer mailings for upcoming school year, giving tours to new families
Managing the preschool staff including annual professional development, evaluating staff annually, arranging for substitutes when needed, conducting staff meetings and scheduling staff for daily duties
Managing the preschool program including daily classroom routines, field trips, curriculum, etc.
Collaborating with church staff and preschool's governing board by coordinating building use as necessary, serving as an ex-officio member of the Board, attending its meetings, and completing monthly and annual Director's reports
Requirements
The candidate must:
have a baccalaureate degree with at least 12 credit hours of course work in early childhood education, child development, elementary education or early childhood special education that addresses child development and learning from birth through kindergarten
have two years of programmatic experience with one year in a supervisory capacity in a child related environment
be a practicing Christian
