Job Title:
Director of Campus Safety
Reports to:
Vice President of Student Life
Job Function:
Directs the daily operations of Security, Switchboard, and Environmental Safety. In addition, serves as the coordinator for campus safety issues and training.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Security:
Provide oversight of all campus security operations, including supervision of all security officers. Work with the V.P. of Student Life and Human Resources in staffing. Serve as the security officer on-duty during regular business hours. Responsible for scheduling security officers and may serve as fill-in as necessary. Supervise parking control and inform department heads of security or safety problems. Serve as contact with the Wilmore City Police department. Issue warnings and fines for parking violations and represent the University in appeals of parking fines. Maintain and report campus crime statistics.
Switchboard:
Provide oversight and supervision to the university switchboard staff. Work with the VP for Student Life and Human Resources in staffing. Responsible for scheduling switchboard operators.
Campus Safety:
Serve as chair of the campus safety committee. Work with the VP for Student Life on emergency response plan review, training, and implementation. Coordinate with university officials to identify and reduce campus safety issues. Provide consultation and support on campus safety issues.
Environmental Safety:
Direct operations associated with hazardous waste management. Develop policies and procedures surrounding waste management. Manage vendor contracts for waste disposal and provide environmental consulting services to departments. Interpret applicable federal laws and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
BA required, MA in related field preferred. Minimum of 3 – 5 years of related work experience. Experience with supervision of staff is highly preferred. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work well with a wide range of individuals. Strong computer and analytical skills are a must. Candidates should demonstrate a vital, personal relationship with Christ and be active participants in a local church body. Must support the University’s theological position and lifestyle standards.
Background check and physical exam are required for this position.
