Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer. Position is located in Dallas.

Purpose

The position is vital to the continued success of the Dallas Admissions Office and the Office of Admissions. The position oversees a large, important, demanding territory in East Texas and therefore requires an Admission Counselor specifically to meet the needs. Without this, the Dallas Admissions Center would not be able to actively recruit prospective students in East Texas and provide the utmost customer service to our prospective students, parents, and counselors in East Texas.

Responsibilities

Communicate with and engage prospective students throughout the college selections, admissions, and enrollment process on an individual basis via phone, email, and in-person meetings.

Drive personal vehicle, rental vehicle, or university vehicle to accomplish tasks. Engage and communicate with varied populations of high-ability prospective students throughout the college selections, admissions, and enrollment processes both in-person and using various communications tools.

Maintain strong relationships with high school, district, alumni, community stakeholders, business, and educational contacts in assigned territory. Conduct presentations on the undergraduate experience, value of a degree, and admissions process of The University of Texas at Austin. Represent the university at regional, school, and community college fairs and programs. Travel frequently to and throughout assigned territory to implement recruitment strategy.

Serve as file reviewer for admission. Meet numeric, chronological, and qualitative reading goals and participate in the scholarship award process.

Using strategic planning, data, and assessments to understand assigned territory, plan and coordinate all aspects of general high school and student-based outreach and recruitment activities, including scheduling, reporting, and assessment. Coordinate recruitment and outreach in community colleges and organizations within assigned territory.

Work towards advancing the goals of the Office of Admissions. Use and update the office's customer relationship management system (CRM) in a timely and efficient manner. Maintain active communication with Admissions team and other related offices as necessary. Assist other staff with territory event programming and support general recruitment programming and initiatives for the Office of Admissions.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Experience providing customer service. Experience using Microsoft Office and standard office equipment. Experience in preparing and conducting presentations. Experience assisting or counseling students. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional demeanor. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in Spanish and English. More than two years of customer service experience. Admissions experience and/or experience working with students on a university or college campus as an orientation or peer advisor, resident assistant, student ambassador, or with other student service-oriented departments or organizations. Experience with UT Austin policies, procedures, and programs. Direct experience working for a competitive and highly selective institution. Advanced experience using Microsoft Office and customer databases. Ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with parents and students. Experience in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to successfully build, nurture, and balance professional relationships to achieve tasks. Familiarity with The University of Texas at Austin's academic offerings and student life.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$43,000

Employment Eligibility:

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
