The Controller position will be instrumental within the Finance Department as both an internal manager of function and people and an external support function for other departments and stores.
Scope:
Reporting to the VP Finance, this position is responsible for the full range of accounting, tax and payroll functions performed within the department, including adherence to proper internal controls, a timely financial close process, and the full range of accounting and finance support functions for fellow team members. This role will demonstrate independent judgement and the ability to formulate responses to changing requirements from both internal and external sources. The Controller will also be responsible for ensuring proper adherence to GAAP accounting policies and maintaining accounting records that can be successfully audited according to those standards.
Key Criteria/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
Comfortable with GAAP Accounting, including ASC 606, ASC 842 and stock compensation
Minimum of ten years of experience in managing accounting, payroll and transaction teams
Experience with annual audit process
Great Plains experience is a plus
Multi-unit and jurisdictional financial and tax reporting experience preferred
Franchise industry experience preferred
System implementation experience preferred
Business process improvement experience preferred
Excellent analytical skills, proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
Detail oriented while remaining mindful of the ‘big picture’
Excellent organizational skills
Strong project management and time management skills; able to effectively manage multiple projects
Self-motivated and driven to succeed with a can-do, collaborative attitude
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the financial leadership team, other departments, and franchisees
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Word, Excel, and Power Point
Exhibits an appropriate level of confidentiality
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Minimum of 3 days at the Support Center and 2 days working remotely
