Where you fit:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our global finance and accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting, and assisting in the development of internal controls. This position requires a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), and SaaS business models.
This position will have hybrid / flexible to work from home and report to corporate office in American Fork, UT. For this reason, we are primarily looking for candidates who will reside within Utah and Salt Lake counties.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
Manage revenue team, revenue reporting, and ensure compliance with ASC 606
Assist with weekly cash reporting and other KPI reporting as requested
Help Controller with accounting for and reporting on investment activity
Oversee revenue-related monthly and quarterly close processes
Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly lender reporting
Assist in the development, documentation, and implementation of internal controls and procedures
Perform variance analysis and provide insights to management
Assist with coordination and completion of external audit
Maintain and improve financial systems and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy
Assist in the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings, including quarterly tax estimates, business license registrations, and annual reporting requirements
Provide support for special projects, M&A, and financial analysis as needed
Ability to hire, train, coach and help mentor a growing accounting staff
Support the company's accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as needed
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
Experience in the SaaS industry or a strong understanding of SaaS business models and revenue recognition principles
Strong knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606, ASC 842, and other regulatory requirements
Experience supporting external audits
Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to adhere to Springbrook company policies and procedures, including security and confidentiality policies
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or CMA certification
Experience with Sage Intacct, Blackline, Bill.com, Nexonia, Avalara, and Salesforce
SaaS sales tax compliance
Multi-entity experience including foreign currency, intercompany transactions, consolidations
