We are hiring an experienced injection molding senior level tooling engineer. This is a highly technical role that is looking for experience in design and build of precision tooling. The successful candidate will be the technical lead with subject matter expertise for the design and development of tooling concepts for consumable plastic components for consumer packaging manufacturing. Investigates and evaluates existing technology, current capabilities, and product requirements to develop tooling specifications that enable efficient manufacturing for sustainable, large-scale consumables production . The successful candidate must be able to use their knowledge of mechanical design, thermoplastic materials, injection molding tooling, and systematic processing approaches to engineer custom solutions, develop DFM feedback, improve current designs, interface with vendors, and enable usage of best in class technology for consumable plastic components. Primary job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Act as liaison between Company and tooling vendors.2. Develop a proactive tooling maintenance program.3. Supervise, schedule and coordinate mold technician activities to include:a) Set up injection molding machines, b) diagnose and troubleshoot mold- related problems, c) schedule mold preventive maintenance activities and monitor overall mold PM program.4. Supervise, train, schedule, and coordinate in-house tool room activities to support manufacturing. These activities include support of all departments: quality, maintenance, production, etc. Coordinate and place overflow work with outside vendors.5. Monitor mold component inventory to facilitate 100% cavitation on production runs. Replenish inventory as required utilizing outside vendors.6. Monitor mold function and service records. Seek continuous improvement by implementing mold modifications that enhance mold reliability and part quality.7. Project management of new mold/product projects as well as existing mold/product projects. Specify and solicit quotations for required work. Placement and follow up of projects through part approval. Provide input on new products as to moldability and tool requirements and cost.8. Monitor assigned budget for department activities.9. Supervise CAD/Tool technician activities to revise and update mold drawings and component inspection.Qualification Requirements•Must have completed tool and die or mold maker apprenticeship or equivalent work history with technical studies.•Minimum five years experience in injection mold, mold start up, debugging, and repair processes, preferably with high cavitation, hot runner systems, continuous threaded closures, tight tolerance (pharmaceutical/food industry), unscrewing molds and thin wall cylinders.•Minimum five years supervisory experience.•Possess written and verbal communication skills. •Possess functional knowledge of production and manufacturing processes.•Ability to interface with Engineering and outside vendors to build new molds and troubleshoot existing tooling.•Strong computer experience with Excel, Word, etc.•Able to interpret blueprints to components.•Capable of working extended work weeks or weekends.•Capable of traveling on Company business.•Negative drug screen results.Project Engineer Technical Manager Project Manager Molding Engineer
