Administrative Information

As a physical therapist at Bodyworx Physical Therapy, you will be responsible for providing physical therapy services to patients referred to the outpatient clinic. The physical therapist directly reports to the Clinical Manager and has the authority to make independent decisions that provide patients with the best possible care as approved by the referring physician.

Job Specific Information

Orthopedic physical therapists help patients, including accident victims and individuals with disabling conditions, such as low-back pain, arthritis, fractures, chronic overuse syndromes, and post-surgical conditions, by providing services that restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. They restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and health.

As a physical therapist, there is responsibility to evaluate, plan, and administer physical therapy programs as prescribed by a physician. Planned therapy sessions will involve exercise, massage, or any other methods that are appropriate. In addition, the physical therapist will utilize various equipment and prosthetic and orthotic devices as necessary. It is also required to prepare reports on patients' progress and communicate with referring physicians on a regular basis.

On a typical day a physical therapist will:

Examine patients' medical historiesTest and measure the patients' strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, motor function, and a full range of other assessmentsDetermine patients' ability to be independent and reintegrate into the community or workplace after injury or illnessDevelop treatment plans describing a treatment strategy, its purpose, and its anticipated outcomeCoordinate with other members of the treatment team to enhance the care of the patientConduct patient educationContribute to facility goal and objectivesAnything else that is determined to be necessary to enhance the services provided to each patient

Qualification Information

To be considered for this position, the candidate must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy institution and licensed to practice physical therapy in the state of Oklahoma. One year of experience is required unless candidate has obtained a graduate level degree in physical therapy. Continuing education requirements are equal to that mandated by the physical therapy licensing board. The physical therapist is required to uphold all professional standards as outlined in the Oklahoma Code of Ethics and Professional Standards of Physical Therapists guidelines. The physical therapist must be able to use proper body mechanics to provide any necessary maneuvers that are needed by a patient.
