Position Purpose

The Technical Designer, Audio is responsible for researching, specifying, designing, integrating, and commissioning a wide variety of entertainment and “P.A.” Audio systems in support of TAIT Group projects to provide end-to-end solutions for our partners.

Our global multidisciplinary team works with clients in the realms of Live, Location Based Experience, Brand Experience, and Placemaking to deliver the unforgettable.

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Design, program and integrate various scales of entertainment and “PA” audio systems designed to meet the specific needs of venue, show, or installationExtensive knowledge of sound distribution methods and practices (Analog, Digital Signal Processing, SMAART Systems, QSYS Level 1&2, Pro Tools)Extensive knowledge of network based audio design theoryProficient at understanding Architect and Construction level drawingsDevelop/provide input to design drawings and build documentation which thoroughly details all aspects of the intended designsAbility to work on technical design elements from early concepts with venue design teams through commissioning with sub vendors and project teamsExecute designs through all phases of design and production within company requirements and client performance specificationsOversee integration partners and communicate status to project management and leadership teamsExperience in developing operations and maintenance training and documentationContributor to estimating and budgeting as required for leads and assigned projects, specifically but not limited to video systems as required with support.Participation in project scheduling for assigned project phase tasks, inclusive of vendor coordination and scheduling.Evaluation of RFPs, bid responses and recommending vendors, suppliers, and integrators.To perform this position successfully, each essential responsibility/accountability must be fulfilled satisfactorily.

Management Responsibility

This role does not have any direct reports within the organization. Projects will on occasion require the management of project scope, contractors, vendors and manufacturers to ensure a successful outcome.

Ability to manage and coordinate teams of skilled laborHighly proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD, and SketchUpAbility to work on multiple projects concurrentlyShould be able to acquire new skills quickly as projects necessitateAbility to work on-site, remotely for installation, commissioning, design/programming and support phasesKnowledge of general construction means and methods.Must be able to work alongside staff Technical Designers, Engineers, and Technicians to deliver a cohesive design package through blue-sky, request for proposals, design, build, delivery and sustainmentAbility to manage through others to accomplish team goals and objectivesKnowledge of and compliance with industry recognized standards, performance specifications, and local codes in the design and engineering fieldsAbility to manage high-pressure situations and deliver on multiple project goals and timelines effectively and simultaneouslyAbility to work and communicate with Sound Engineers/ComposersMinimum Qualifications To perform the essential responsibilities, individuals must have the following level of education and experience, or equivalent combination. Additionally, the following certifications, knowledge, skills, or physical requirements are necessary for the position.

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following – Engineering, Architecture, Business Management, Construction Management, Liberal Arts – Theater Design/Technology4 years experience (or 2 years experience with a graduate degree) as an Audio DesignerPreferred 4 years experience of major entertainment development experience; major theme park/themed entertainment/cruise ship development/theater production experienceExperience in “large project” themed entertainment design and/or management is highly desirable.QSC Q-SYS Level 2 TrainedSMAART® Certification or good working knowledgeFirsthand knowledge of compliance in industry recognized standards, performance specifications, local AHJ standards and code complianceHighly proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD, and SketchUp
