Become a Senior Advisor, Regulatory Accounting and Analysis at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will be responsible for application of technical skills and expertise in general and regulatory accounting to perform and analyze complex accounting transactions, implement new accounting treatments, develop financial reports and financial statements, assess accounting impacts of various decisions and actions. Also, you will perform budget and comparative fluctuation analysis, review monthly journal entries, support various audits and lead the charge for solving other accounting-related problems.

In addidtion, you will recommend and implement process improvements to refine business processes and drive efficiencies and will provide functional leadership to accounting staff. You will regularly collaborate with Energy Procurement & Management, Risk Management, Regulatory Policy & Affairs, and Law departments to assess the appropriate accounting and regulatory recovery of complex transactions.

Responsibilities

Leads the general ledger and month end close entries and related processes

Prepares and analyzes financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements

Supports in developing and implementing processes and controls, and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure timely and accurate submission of deliverables

Drives the integrity of the financial systems and the maintenance of accounts and records in such areas as assets, liabilities, equity, income and expense

Leads an efficient month-end closing process, actual, forecast analysis and reconciliations, and general ledger activities

Analyzes and interprets financial and accounting data to provide guidance for decision making

Establishes, maintains, and documents appropriate policies, procedures, and internal control for the department

Coordinates and supports internal and external audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.

Designs, maintains and/or modifies accounting systems to ensure an adequate recognition of financial transactions

Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries into accounts, such as general ledger accounts and documents business transactions

A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

Ten or more years of experience in accounting or related fields.

Experience with interpreting and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in accounting or related field.

Certified Public Accountant (active or inactive).

Experience in a public accounting firm and/or regulated utility.

Effectively communicate accounting issues and business processes to peers, clients, management, and other organizations.

You should know

This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
