GYN - Surgery and OncologyFull Time81918BRJob SummaryThe PA position is a Surgical First Assist. The role of the First Assist will be to participate in and actively assist surgeons during the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care. This position will assist in completing the operation safely and expeditiously by helping to provide exposure, maintain hemostasis, and other technical functions under the supervision of the surgeon. Must be able to travel to and between operating rooms at a rapid pace. Inpatient post-operative care will also be required. Must have good organization, judgment, problem solving, and safety awareness skills. The ideal candidate will thrive working in a high paced academic environment with focus on teamwork and excellent patient care.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $89.66 - $120.66 (Hourly Rate).

UCSF Health's vision is to provide innovative, high quality, cost-competitive clinical services, and deliver an unparalleled patient experience across the entire care continuum.Required QualificationsMinimum 1-2 years recent experience working as a Physician Assistant as a first assist in an operative settingFlexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations and in varying schedules as outlinedPossess the skills, knowledge, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the assigned positionAbility to document competent performance of the skills required to perform in the role describedExcellent verbal and written communication, professional, computer and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient populationAbility to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job duties/ functionsDemonstrated excellence in the following areas: clinical practice, communication, clinical case management, leadership/problem identification/resolution, and teachingPreferred QualificationsThree (3+) years gynecologic surgical oncology experience as a first assistProficiency performing gynecological examsExperience working in an Academic Medical CenterLicense/CertificationActive and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.Current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.Active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).Complete an AAPA recognized graduate master's degree program as a physician assistant.Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.Current AHA BLS.

In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
