Position Overview:
Navistar International is currently searching for a
Manufacturing Engineer Lead
to join our Huntsville Engine Plant as we expand our manufacturing footprint to include a second shift.This role has the hours of 7pm-6am with the exception of the first month of training which would be 1st shift.Responsibilities:Support Advanced Manufacturing Engineering in engine component machining layouts, equipment purchase, qualification, and installation and then transition to day to day production activities to help meet customer product demandRead and interpret blueprintsProvide Technical Expertise to quality departmentReact to machinery uptime issues and drive towards permanent, cost effective and long term solutionsPerforms research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipmentStandardizes manufacturing processes by benchmarking other facilities manufacturing processesCoordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating resultsAssist in the accomplishment of plant quality objectivesFollow up on the implementation of engineering changes and variations from design specifications as well as new program developmentsPerforms product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and improved efficiencyInitiates, develops and pursues capital appropriation projectsRepresents manufacturing on cross-functional teamsMinimum Requirements:
Bachelors degreeAt least 5 years of experience in product manufacturingORMasters degreeAt least 3 years of experience in product manufacturingORAt least 7 years of experience in product manufacturingAdditional Requirements:
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Must have previous machining experience, preferably in engine or heavy equipment manufacturingStrong CAD experience, AutoCAD and NX Team Center preferredMust be proficient in computer usage including MS OfficeMust be able to learn internal applications (Pilgrim, etc.)Must have thorough mechanical understanding of machines, tools, vehicles, and their designMust be able to work well in energetic manufacturing environment with positive attitude, ethics and International ValuesMust demonstrate advanced reasoning skills, problem sensitivity, and data analysisMust have advanced mathematical skills; be able to use engineering judgment and critical thinkingMust demonstrate ability to be self-directed3D modeling experienceMust be willing to work a 3rd shift from 7pm to 6am
