Manufacturing Engineer - Battery Systems

at our Advanced Technology Center in Elmendorf, TX near San Antonio. This position will support the development of manufacturing assembly processes for high voltage batteries, battery manufacturing safety procedures, and manufacturing input tied to new product development.Responsibilities:Support product development (R&D) on product concepts. Influence design to ensure manufacturability and DFALead role in resolving battery assembly related concerns. Work cross functionally to support manufacturing initiatives and best practicesManage Internal and External Battery Components and AssembliesDevelop part fabrication and assembly concepts for new product. Work with internal and cross-brand manufacturing engineering on process, facility and equipment effects of assembly conceptsDevelop associated assembly equipment and tooling designs. Lead select projects from concept through procurement, installation, and commissioningStandardize manufacturing processes by benchmarking other facilities manufacturing processes and integration best practices and standards into new process developmentAssist with development of project workplans, timelines, and resource requirementsCoordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating resultsAssist with development of process specific equipment. Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipmentAssist with development of prototype process development, prototype equipment specification, procurement, and installation, and prototype assembly and evaluation as neededRepresents manufacturing on cross-functional and cross brand teamsAssist with development, training, and ongoing support of EV battery and vehicle assembly safety practices and proceduresContribute to the development and improvement of quality control processes and procedures through working closely with the quality team and R&DMinimum Requirements:

Bachelors degreeAt least 5 years of experience in product manufacturingORMasters degreeAt least 3 years of experience in product manufacturingORAt least 7 years of experience in product manufacturingAdditional Requirements:

EV battery assembly and vehicle assembly experience highly desiredProficiency with AutoCad, Unigraphics or NX highly desiredExperience with automated tooling design and procurement, and robotic systems is highly desiredProficient in the development and maintenance of PFMEA's, highly desiredMS Project or other project management softwareBachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, is preferredExperience with laser welding systems, electronics assembly systems and battery quality testing a plusExperience with truck or automotive assembly is a plusAbility to understand and organize complex sets of dataAbility to handle multiple tasks and complete work in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervisionAbility to interact with all levels of management at the local and division levelsAbility to take an active role and participate on cross functional teams across multiple brandsProven ability to initiate and support change to the organizationProficient MS Office computer skillsBenefits and Compensation:
