Traffic Engineering Intern
to join us at our headquarters in
Kansas City, MO
for the Spring of 2025. The intern will be responsible for assisting project traffic engineers and project managers with design and administrative tasks. This role will offer the ability to actively interact with our Traffic Engineering team in developing design plans and/or construction of projects for states, municipalities, and federal government.Transforms sketches, layouts, and drawings prepared by others into project plans using CAD.Will learn proficiency in operation of CAD.Assignments of increasing difficulty will be submitted as proficiency is increased.Gain exposure to design process, from concept to construction.Individual is flexible and may work with numerous project teams to help in project completion.Maintain neat and orderly work area that will allow access to project information to other team members.Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.QualificationsWhat you bring to our firm:Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office & MicroStation, and OpenRoads Designer.An open, creative mind interested in finding solutions to unique design challenges.What we prefer you bring to our team:Interest in traffic engineering.CAD (MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer) experience.Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; asks questions.Ethics - Treats people with respect; works with integrity and ethically.Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time.Professionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments.Work Environment:The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 10-25 pounds. No experience required.
