Civil Engineering Intern for the Fall of 2024

interested in developing career skills in the following disciplines:Roadway DesignSite/Civil DesignTraffic StudiesSuccessful candidates will work assisting our experienced Engineers by reviewing and performing calculations, developing design plans, learning industry software and CADD skills, and participating in bridge inspections. Other opportunities may include construction observation and site visits for pre-design scope development. This is a technical position intended for Civil Engineering students in their sophomore year of college or higher.Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):Foundational understanding of the consulting engineering businessTeam communication and collaboration for civil engineering projectsApplication of college course material in a real-world projectAssembling engineering calculations in a project setting and applying the quality control process to those calculationsDevelopment of construction cost estimates and material and labor quantities used to estimate project costsFamiliarity with industry and discipline specific software including drafting utilizing MicroStation and other Bentley products, and other engineering modeling software such as Synchro, HCS, and / or PTV VissimActively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.Qualifications

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (construction equipment, jack hammers, etc).While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a car. The employee is occasionally required climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 10-25 pounds. No experience required. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening, criminal/civil background check, and motor vehicle records search.
