The Department administers funds allocated under the federal Older Americans Act, the Older Californians Act, and through the Medi-Cal program.Recognizing that California’s over-65 population is projected to grow to 8.6 million by 2030, Governor Gavin Newsom issued Executive Order N-14-19 calling for the creation of a Master Plan for Aging to be developed by December - 2020. The Master Plan will serve as a blueprint that can be used by state government, local communities, private organizations, and philanthropy to build environments that promote healthy aging. CDA will play an integral part in the development and implementation of the Master Plan.Job Description And Duties*This is a REPOST. Under the general direction of the Research Data Manager (Chief of Research), the Research Data Specialist (RDS) I will perform important research and data analysis for the California Department of Aging (CDA). The RDS I will explore and identify new strategies or sources for collecting data to support Master Plan for Aging (MPA) efforts, and other CDA priorities. The RDS I will be knowledgeable in the creation of data visualizations and support efforts to ensure they are tailored for a wide variety of audiences. The RDS I will work with the Chief of Research and the RDS III to assist in the maintenance of the Data Dashboard for Aging (DDA). The RDS I will support research efforts around the implementation of the MPA. The RDS I may also support other general research activities related to older adults and adults with disabilities. The research and recommendations developed by the RDS I, in consultation with the Chief of Research, will be presented to executive management and other stakeholders to drive decision and policy making. The RDS I will support CDA in a wide variety of stakeholder engagements. They will work with teammates in the creation of materials, and the facilitation of discussions, in stakeholder engagement. The RDS I will utilize software such as Tableau, Esri ArcGIS, Power BI, among other tools, on a regular basis.This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year.
