Research Infrastructure Manager, UNLV Research [R0144569]
ROLE of the POSITION
Direct the operations of three research facilities supporting multiple and varied research programs across colleges and departments campus-wide including HRC, CLB3 and ALB; collaborate on other VPR facilities. Manage comprehensive facility technical, operational, and MEP functions, support, and maintenance. Provide direct and indirect support and guidance to Principal Investigators, researchers, and technical staff using the facilities. Proactively identify existing and potential problems, investigate, and find creative solutions. Liaise with other departments, and participate in immediate to long-term planning, setting organizational goals and objectives, and decision-making regarding current and future capacity and supporting infrastructure and technology requirements. Identify and interpret researchers’ needs to define scope of work, negotiate with contractors, and supervise projects to completion, adhering to NSHE rules and regulations. Manage projects and coordinate with other departments and external contractors to oversee construction, renovations, maintenance, and repair of structures, facilities, instrumentation, and systems, including prioritization, quality assurance, and cost efficiency. Manage annual budget to support maintenance and renovation projects. Determine cost and practical feasibility of projects. Collaborate and negotiate with departments, researchers, and contractors with regards to design, technologies, and creative solutions to deliver quality projects timely and within budget. Project sizes range from a few thousand dollars to over $3 million. Review blueprints and plans to ensure requirements are met. Complete lifecycle management of FF&E including selection, procurement, installation, maintenance/management through end-of-use. Formulating and implementing policies and procedures to support facilities operations and organizational goals. Communicate plans, policies, and procedures to internal and external stakeholders. Record keeping and information analysis to ensure effective space and resource management and utilization. Analyze space and resource requests to make informed assignment recommendations. Develop strong, collaborative professional relationships to support department operations and organizational goals. Gather data and prepare various facility reports. Prepare and review operational facility budgets. Recruit and manage student staff, prepare schedules and assign duties for facilities operations. Participate in committee activities as required.
KNOWLEDGE
