ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a
Software Engineer
with an
Electrical
Engineer or Computer Engineering
degree to join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. (We can't accept Computer Science degrees for this specific role.)Responsibilities:Providing software/adaptation analysis, design/development, testing, and system integration for the Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) program. Applicable functional areas include proficiency and knowledge of real-time design, development, testing and interfacing of software and computer hardware systems.Will work specifically with the TFDM Software Development Team using C/C++, Java, XML, JavaScript, shell scripting, database concepts (Postgres and/or Oracle), GIS Tools, Red Hat Linux, Ada, Redmine, Git, and various homegrown tools. TFDM Lab assignments and Data Collection is essential.Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.Perform data collection, software installations, and workstation backup.Perform adaptation/software analysis and implement code fixes, adaptation changes, and new functionality.Perform peer/code reviews.Ability to work individually and within a group/team.Ability to take direction and initiative; ability to provide direction and training.Required Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or another engineering discipline; we cannot accept Computer Science degrees for this role.Three plus years of experience in software development.Working knowledge in C/C++, Java, XML, Shell Scripting, JavaScript, Database Concepts, UNIX/LINUX, and the ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.Ability to travel (limited - less than 25%).Preferred Qualifications:Technical Adapter/Software Developer with the required knowledge plus Ada, Perl Scripting, Python, Geographic Information System (GIS) Tools, and Red Hat Linux.Experience in TFDM/STARS/NAS, Test, Redmine (or another project management tool), Git (or another configuration management tool), and Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel).Technical Adapter/Software Developer with the required and preferred knowledge plus experience in HTML/XHTML, QT, JSON, and SQL.US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US and residing in the US for at least the past 3 years.Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust.This is an outstanding opportunity to grow your skill set in Software Engineering supporting the National Airspace System (NAS) at FAA.
