ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a
Software Engineer
to join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This role will make an impact by meeting the future needs of our FAA customer that includes securing data across networks in the enterprise.
The person in this position should be a highly technical computer scientist that will be responsible for providing software analysis, design/development, testing, and system integration for the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) program. Applicable functional areas include proficiency and knowledge of real-time design, development, testing and interfacing of software and computer hardware systems. Comprehensive software development skills and experience with programming languages used for National Airspace Systems (NAS) and NAS support systems.
Essential Job Functions
The person in this position will work specifically with the STARS Software Development & Test Team using C/C++, shell scripting, database concepts (SQL), Red Hat Linux, Redmine, Collaborator, and various homegrown tools.STARS Lab assignments are essential.Perform software analysis and implement code fixes.Perform peer/code reviews.Ability to write test plans and procedures.Ability to work individually and within a group/team.Ability to take direction and initiative; ability to provide direction and training.Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.

Required
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, or a Bachelor’s degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and twenty (20) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field OR Master’s Degree in any field of study with a minimum thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and sixteen (16) years related work experience in a computer science or math field. OR PhD or Doctorial in a related field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and six (6) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field.Technical Tester/Software Developer with knowledge in C/C++, Shell Scripting, UNIX/LINUX, Microsoft products, and the ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.All candidates are required to have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.
Preferred
Technical Tester/Software Developer with the required knowledge plus Database Concepts, STARS/NAS and Red Hat Linux.Experience in STARS/NAS, Test, Redmine (or another project management tool).
Bonus
Technical Tester/Software Developer with the required and preferred knowledge plus experience in HTML/XHTML, JSON, and SQL.
Security
US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US.Has been living in the US for at least the past 3 years.Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Desk/lab located at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center in EHT, NJ.Limited (25% or less) travel to locations throughout the US.
