JOB DESCRIPTIONAs a Knowledge Engineer / Information Specialist, you will be managing and organizing information; developing and maintaining knowledge management systems, databases, and repositories to ensure easy access to information; collaborating with various teams to identify user and information needs, gather data, and create effective solutions for information retrieval; analyzing and evaluating existing information systems to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy; and providing training and support to the customer base on information management systems, knowledge repositories, and methodologies.

Job Duties
Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify, categorize, and structure information and knowledge assets.
Create, maintain, and implement metadata, taxonomy, and ontology to facilitate intuitive information navigation and search.
Information Retrieval:
Design and optimize search systems and algorithms to ensure quick and accurate retrieval of relevant information.
Implement metadata tagging and indexing mechanisms for content enrichment and improved search results.
Content Creation and Curation:
Generate and curate high-quality content, including documentation, FAQs, best practices, and other informational resources.
Ensure the accuracy, relevance, and currency of knowledge content through regular updates and reviews.
Collaborative Tools and Platforms:
Evaluate and recommend knowledge management tools, software, and platforms to enhance information sharing and collaboration across teams.
Administer and configure knowledge management systems, intranets, or content management platforms.
Training and Support:
Provide training and support to team members on knowledge management practices, tools, and platforms.
Assist in creating user guides and training materials for effective knowledge utilization.
Data Analytics and Insights:
Analyze usage patterns and trends to derive insights that drive continuous improvement of knowledge management processes.
Generate reports and metrics to showcase the value and impact of knowledge management initiatives.
Create, organize, and manage structured and unstructured data, including text, audio, and video content.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to knowledge management and information science.
Propose and implement innovative solutions to optimize knowledge capture, organization, and access.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar degree will be considered as a technical field.
Certification(s) : No certifications are required.
Experience : Minimum of nine (9) years relevant experience consistent with the JOB DESCRIPTION, Job Duties, and the below experience
Required Experience:
Proficiency in knowledge management software, content management systems, and collaboration tools.
Strong understanding of taxonomies, ontologies, and information retrieval methodologies.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in knowledge management practices.
Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools for tracking knowledge usage and impact.
Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and willingness to learn new tools and techniques.
Desired Experience:
Existing DHS EOD, active Public Trust clearance.
Experience with Agile and Scrum methods.
