Our Structures Group functions as a Self-Performing General Contractor and specializes in Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMBs) and Tenant Improvement projects. The Structures team works directly with Facility Owners, Developers, and Public Agencies. The team also places concrete and erects steel with JHK field crews to maintain schedule control and provide maximum value to our owners.The Project Engineer's priorities in this role include understanding a project life cycle including but not limited to the cost elements such as change orders, assisting with estimating, scheduling updates, and writing RFIs to integrate cost and schedule impacts. The Project Engineer is accountable to and draws authority from either the Project Manager or Project Superintendent, depending upon how the dynamics of the project are initially established.Key Responsibilities:Learn, follow, and promote Company safety and quality protocolsMaintain current and accurate quantity tracking dataCost Control reporting and forecastingTake off quantities and prepare pricing for changes when so directedResponsible for document control, purchase orders, and sub-contract issuanceThoroughly review all drawings, submittals, samples, and shop drawings, to ensure the end product will be in accordance with the contractOperations and maintenance manualsBudget set-upWrite and manage RFI’s and change ordersEstimating and procurementPrepare Submittals and maintain Submittal LogPlan and Coordinate work appropriately to facilitate the work permit processReview construction procedures and provide technical support for workEnsure construction work done in-house and by sub-contractors complies with the contractBe directly involved with construction procedures, represent JH Kelly at various meetingsPerform field engineering for construction convenience items including calculation and design drafting when requiredKeep management informed of project status and schedulingPerform additional tasks as assignedExperience / Qualifications:Civil, architectural, and/or mechanical construction experience or education5+ years of Project Engineering experienceEstimating, Procurement, and Scheduling experience or education preferredFamiliarity with Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, using MS Project or comparable applicationsA solid working knowledge of Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Contracts, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, and SafetyProficient in reading drawings and isometricsNecessary Skills:Fully Proficient in Microsoft Office & Bluebeam – intermediate skills in ExcelStrong oral and written communication skillsSelf-starter, motivated, and takes initiativeOrganized and productiveAbility to proactively build and cultivate relationshipsComfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and projects at handMust have a valid driver's licenseWhy Join JH Kelly?Opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and make a significant impact.Competitive salary and benefits package.Collaborative and inclusive company culture.Ongoing learning and development opportunities.Career growth potential within a rapidly expanding organization.Benefits Package:Compensation: $30-$40 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).Annual Performance Bonuses.Profit Sharing.Comprehensive Medical/Vision/Rx – Dental/Ortho coverage (JH Kelly pays 87.5% of total premiums).Paid Vacation (PTO model) and Holidays.401K with a 50% company match of the first 6% employee contribution.Life Insurance, AD & D, STD & LTD – paid 100% by JH Kelly.Join us on this exciting journey!
