DescriptionJob Summary:This position involves supporting custom design projects through the order process for air-moving equipment utilized in industrial applications. The Project Manager / Engineer will be responsible for the accuracy of order write-ups, bills of materials, and drawings as they pertain to custom-built products. The individual must be able to interpret and apply different customer specifications, design documentation, equipment schedules, and application criteria to the designs and selections of fans and blowers. Strong verbal and written communication is required to provide accurate and timely responses to order inquiries. The position requires someone who can multi-task, is very methodical, and can work independently with little or no supervision. Organization and accuracy are necessary. An understanding of how to apply theoretical analysis to real-world principles pertaining to research and development is required. The Project Manager / Engineer will lead a cross-functional team during the design and production of special build fans, to ensure the order is delivered on time, on budget, and of high quality.Responsibilities and Duties:Supports order processing by reviewing specifications, customer drawings, data, design documents, equipment schedules, and application criteria and assists with selecting the most effective fan for the application based on a deep understanding of Hartzell Air Movement products.Interact with sales representatives and customers to clearly define any special product requirements.Works closely with other engineering disciplines to ascertain the feasibility of designing special equipment/existing product modifications.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Flexible and adaptive to change.Review designs using Solid Works.Assure technical accuracy of order write-ups, bills of materials, and drawings.Manage projects with cross-functional teams from the order stage to the final shipment.Ensure order is delivered on time, on budget, and of high quality.Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.Manage and forecast risks.Define special purchased part components, and address vendor and purchasing questions from the equipment quoting stage through the manufacturing, installation, and maintenance phase.Assist with operational inquiries about the proper assembly of the products.Knowledge of drive selection, couplings, vibration isolator selection, and different seal applications, as well as electrical and electrical components in makeup air units a plus.Qualifications and Required Skills:Education:BSME with 3 - 5 years of industrial experience; or equivalent preferred.Bachelor of Science with 3 – 5 years of project management experience in manufacturing projects.Project Management Professional certification a plus.Excellent communication skills.The position requires someone who can multi-task, is very methodical, and can work independently with little or no supervision.Goal-oriented, high-energy individual, and self-motivated.Ability to take control of projects and express their opinion with the customer and/or teammates.Ability to influence others to want to achieve goals.Organized to maintain project completion on time. Understand priorities and follow through in project management.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite.Experienced SolidWorks user or equivalent is desired.Working knowledge of fluid flow and fan applications preferred.Knowledge and familiarity of makeup air units and fiberglass reinforced plastics (FRP) as it pertains to fans and blowers is strongly desired.Good understanding of fan applications, sound, and vibration.
