Visit cpkcr.com to learn about the CPKC advantage, our purpose and culture.PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:This position is responsible for researching, analyzing and translating business requirements into technical specs and designing the logical and physical models that support the BI Enterprise DW development effort. This position is responsible for managing customer expectations by taking ownership as a Business Analyst and Data Analyst for complex Capital projects.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Functions as the lead for BI-SDLC (Business Intelligence Software Delivery Lifecycle) projects.Collaborates and works closely with Business, System Integration, Cloud data architects, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Integration specialists and Power BI dashboard development team.Analyzes and translates business requirements into technical requirements.Develops BRD and/or TDD independently.Designs and develops data models and applies best practices for optimum performance of the models.Documents project specific processes and data flows, data dependencies, data definitions and relevant business rules.Establishes data dictionaries to support the buildout of a data governance infrastructure.Converts functional requirements into technical specifications.Performs data analysis, data mapping, functional testing, unit testing, and test case preparation using required tools based on project needs.Designs and develops SQL scripts, ad hoc queries and data models for high performance projects and deliverables.Works with project teams and business stewards to refine business requirements that produce well-designed and developed solutions.Exemplifies CPKC Vision, Values, and Culture interactions with coworkers, business partners, customers and stakeholders.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job-related major field of study.Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred:3+ years of hands-on experience with DAX, R, Python, MML, SAS Enterprise Miner or similar tools in support of on-demand, real-time analytic services.Experience with warehouse data extraction/transformation and load tools, as well as metadata repository tools.Knowledge of various database platforms SAP, MS SQL Server.Data Visualization software preferably Power BI.Proficient with MS Office tools like PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, Excel and Word and shell scripting.Understands and evaluates existing SQL scripts and Data Models.Experience with the SDLC and ETL Processes, data mining, database design development, data modelling, data governance and unit testing.Proficient in data transformation, consolidating data from multiple disparate sources, develop process workflows and wireframe sketches to help business design effective dashboard solutions.Working Conditions:Works with diverse set of data sources, such as Streaming Data, Time series data, semi-structured and unstructured data.Works to apply and develop appropriate statistical, machine learning, and/or deep learning models and algorithms to classify structured or unstructured data.Demonstrates ability to communicate technical recommendations to a non-technical audience in a clear and concise manner.Demonstrates ability to understand logical relationships and to ensure that programming faithfully replicates these relationships.Demonstrates ability to test and validate programming steps.Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills.Exhibits attention to detail, self-motivation, creative problem solving, with proven ability to successfully manage multiple disparate streams of work in a challenging, dynamic environment.Demonstrates solid organizational skills, performs detailed tasks with high degree of accuracy, and performs under pressure.Multitasks, prioritizes and manages time effectively.Displays excellent communication and presentation skills and must possess exceptional ability to work well with individuals and teams at all levels, across all divisions.Works in a structured environment and performs in high-pressure ad hoc mode to address urgent needs.This position has a regular full-time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday.
