link/button.The IT Project Manager works closely with the CIO and Associate CIO to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of IT projects that support the university’s mission, academic programs, and administrative operations. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of project management principles.Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning:
Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.Develop detailed project plans to guide the execution and control of projects.
Stakeholder Management:
Liaise with university administrators, faculty members, IT staff, and external vendors.Ensure alignment of project goals and expectations with all stakeholders.
Resource Management:
Work with CIO and IT Directors to allocate resources effectively, including personnel, budget, and technology.Ensure the successful execution of IT projects within established constraints.
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.Assess technical, financial, and operational risks impacting project outcomes.Project Execution and Monitoring:
Manage the execution of IT projects, from design through bid and construction to ensure quality, schedule, and budget compliance.Monitor project progress regularly, gather status reports, and provide weekly progress reports to the CIO and Associate CIO.
Communication:
Facilitate communication among project team members and stakeholders.Provide regular updates, be responsive to questions, both verbally and in writing, address concerns, and foster collaboration.
Change Management:
Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and resources.Assess impact and implement adjustments while minimizing disruptions.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure quality standards are met for all deliverables.Conduct testing and validation, and implement corrective measures as needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate project documentation, including plans, schedules, status reports, and meeting minutes.Track progress, facilitate decision-making, and ensure accountability.
Post-implementation Review:
Conduct post-implementation reviews to evaluate project outcomes.Identify lessons learned and capture best practices for future projects.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field , or in lieu of degree, 10+ years of relevant experience.More than 3 years of relevant work experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Working knowledge of Project Management methodologies.Attention to detail is critical.Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products and with Google Workplace.Demonstrated experience drafting communications, specifications, bulletins, creating cost spreadsheets, and bar chart schedules.Effective verbal and written communications skills to share key information.Demonstrated experience leading collaborative projects.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple assignments simultaneously with diverse clients while meeting deadlines.Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll’s mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world.Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.Experience with project management in Higher Education.PMP certification.Normal Work Location, Hours and Conditions
This position works in-person from our campus in University Heights, Ohio. University core business hours are generally 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. However, this position may require work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on department operations and project schedules.Physical Requirements
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other office locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information.Position also requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work on a construction site. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding to gain access to all areas of a work site. Be exposed to all outdoor elements for extended periods of time and have good vision and hearing. Be able to walk for extended periods of time.Hours

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
