Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Engineer Systems Architect – Global Systems and Interface Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations and dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.
The selected candidate will support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, engineering estimates, and author and perform formal and informal engineering reviews. The position will also provide mentoring to junior systems engineering team members to enhance skills in the department.
Essential Functions:
Adhering to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts.
Actively involved in Agile development, including iteration planning and mentoring team members on architectural patterns.
Conduct or lead Analysis of Alternatives, Trade Studies, and Design Evaluations.
Travel supporting program reviews and customer meetings to CONUS sites, including Huntsville, AL, and Shriever SFB.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline preferred from an accredited university and 14 years of experience, or a Master's Degree and 12 years of experience, or 9 years of experience with a PhD; or 18 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions.
Must have experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g., specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.).
Must have experience in developing large, complex software systems.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued Top Secret/SCI clearance at the time of application.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within an Agile development environment, domain experience with both Space and Missile Defense.
Familiarity with cyber, platform, and network architecture technologies.
