Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Engineer Software – SW Engineer (RA) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations.
This position is for a Principal Software Engineer on the C2BMC program. The candidate will be responsible for software development in Java. Accountable for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support. Maintains, debugs, and configures related software products.
Essential Functions:
Command and control system application development.
Automated test and pipeline development experience.
Test-driven development.
Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.
Experience with Software Integration testing, including developing automated test scripts.
Strong problem-solving skills, including reviewing performance issues, identifying root causes, and recommending and developing a solution.
Must have practical oral and written communication skills and an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Experience with performance modeling.
Experience with microservices.
Experience with DevSecOps and/or build management.
Designing and building Graphical User Interfaces.
Good working knowledge of MS Office products.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Applicants must have a current DoD issued Secret Security Clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
DoD 8140 certification at
IAT Level II or higher
is required to start or
must be obtained within
60 days of the start date .
Software engineering and software development with
Java/JEE
experience.
Experience developing enterprise applications in
Java
on
Linux .
Experience working as part of an Agile team.
Use common software development and management tools such as:
Git
Nexus
JIRA
Confluence
Maven
Gradle
Eclipse
Understanding standard system engineering design artifacts such as
Use Cases
and
SysML diagrams .
Preferred Qualifications:
Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks are highly desirable.
Salary Range:
$97,500 - $146,300The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
