Director of Training Services
The Helen Miller Member Education and Training Center (METC) is an educational organization providing instruction and training to workers represented by members of Service Employees International Union Healthcare Illinois/Indiana/Missouri/Kansas (SEIU HCIIMK). SEIU HCIIMK is a dynamic, action-oriented union of over 95,000 healthcare and child care workers throughout those four states. We believe in a society defined by freedom and justice, where we can all have quality education, health care and jobs, while choosing to live a full and plentiful life. As a wholly owned subsidiary of SEIU HCIIMK, Helen Miller METC seeks to provide a high-quality curriculum on a popular education model to thousands of low-wage workers to enhance their on-the-job experience and support their career development. The METC is a 501(c)3 organization.
Purpose:METC is committed to ensuring access to training opportunities for Public and Private Homecare workers, Child Care Providers and other Healthcare Workers that are represented by our Local. METC runs specific training programs that are governed by collectively bargained agreements and/or other contracts. The Director of Training Services is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of educational programs and training curricula at METC. This role involves collaborating with industry partners, educators, and stakeholders to ensure that training initiatives align with workforce needs and educational standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in education, a passion for workforce development, and a strategic vision for curriculum enhancement and program innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities:1. Collaborate with METC Program and HCII Division Directors and other HCII/METC leadership and staff to develop a shared vision and plan for METC's training services.2. Develop a timeline for implementation of METC training-related services including LMS and curriculum.3. Build a culture of training excellence to ensure that training services meet the needs of our programs and partners.4. Incorporate feedback from all levels and roles within the organization.5. Manage staff, vendors, and other professional stakeholder relationships.6. Make recommendations for training innovations and help lead those efforts.7. Help foster a healthy organizational culture that leads with a focus on equity and inclusion, both in terms of delivery of training to workers and internal staff culture.8. Lead within METC as part of the senior leadership team.9. Lead the design and enhancement of innovative curriculum and instructional materials that meet the needs of diverse learners and industry standards.10. Conduct ongoing assessments of program effectiveness, utilizing data to inform instructional practices and curriculum improvements.11. Work closely with industry partners, educators, and administrative staff to ensure programs are relevant and responsive to labor market demands.12. Provide guidance and professional development for Training and Outreach personnel, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to deliver high-quality instruction and training experience.13. Ensure that all curricula comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards.14. Develop and manage the curriculum and instructional team budget, allocating resources efficiently to support instructional goals.15. Stay informed about current trends in workforce development, education, and instructional technology to continually enhance program offerings.16. Foster partnerships with employers, community organizations, and educational institutions to promote workforce development initiatives and enhance program visibility.17. Prepare and present reports on curriculum and instructional initiatives to leadership and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Scope and Nature of Supervision:The Director of Training Services must be able to act and organize his/her/their time independently. She/He/They must also be able to receive direction from and interact with the Training and Outreach personnel, HCII/METC leadership, management and staff, as well as other Union officers and staff when it becomes necessary in the daily operation of the METC.
Minimum Qualifications:1. Skilled in leading the development and operation of training programs2. Demonstrated abilities in coordinating a complex operation including supervising staff, vendors, and contractors3. Ability to develop and operationalize strategic plans and track progress towards goals4. Strong collaboration skills among staff you supervise, peers, and other stakeholders5. Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders, and skilled at balancing the needs of different internal and external constituencies6. Ability to lead services with diverse (cultural, racial, ethnic, class, linguistic) stakeholder base7. Demonstrated commitment to organizational equity and inclusion8. Ability to create and maintain strong positive relationships with the HCII/METC team, external stakeholders including unions and state agencies, and workers we support9. A commitment to advancing the voice and conditions of healthcare and child care workers10. Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theories11. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills12. Proficient in data analysis and evaluation methods13. Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms
Preferred Qualifications:1. Master's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, or a related field; Ed.D or Ph.D. preferred.2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in curriculum development and instructional leadership, preferably in a workforce development or adult education setting.
Working Conditions:The Director of Training Services must have the ability to travel and work evenings and weekends. Job requires occasional minimal lifting of up to 50lbs of boxes and shipping packages.
Other Duties:All staff are expected to respect the processes of the organization and are expected to work within the framework of the organization to resolve internal disputes and issues.
