CAS is currently seeking an Information Scientist- Thesaurus for our Content Operations Team.This position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
Position Summary:
The Thesaurus role in the Authority Database Operations department applies scientific expertise, analytical skills, problem solving capabilities, and relevant language skills to help build CAS's world-class collection of scientific information. They leverage their expertise to maintain the authority of CAS scientific content and controlled vocabulary in their area of scientific expertise and across a diversity of scientific domains.
Job Accountabilities:
The primary responsibility includes working collaboratively within the department and across Content Operations functions to support the organization and categorization of domain-specific controlled vocabularies and thesauri. Additional responsibilities may include identifying and implementing process improvements, participating in unit-level projects, and leveraging data analysis skills to measure and report on progress.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline.1-2 years of related professional experience.Prior experience or certification in controlled vocabulary and taxonomy design and implementation is desirable.Excellent team player who is organized and willing to adapt to the needs and requirements of an agile organization.Demonstrate a proactive and flexible attitude, with a keen willingness to show initiative.Good written and verbal communication skillsEffective organizational skills, including attention to detail, time management, prioritization, and multi-taskingSolid analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamAbility to proactively collaborate, communicate, and share knowledge with peers with diverse backgroundsAbility to solve complex problems within and outside of the primary groupDemonstrated skill in handling multiple tasks with varying urgencies and prioritiesDemonstrated change and learning agility
