Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position

The primary responsibility of the Director of Track & Field Operations is the management and oversight of the day-to-day administration and operations for the North Carolina A&T State University outdoor & indoor men's and women's track and field and cross country programs. The individual in this role is responsible for communicating, implementing, and enforcing team policy and university policy standards to student-athletes, budget management, meet management, is knowledgeable of NCAA compliance, academic eligibility and keeping the Head Coach apprised of significant events related to the program. This position is responsible for carrying out major assignments for the program's recruiting, team travel logistics, and student-athlete development and experience as well as serves as a liaison with facilities, events, and academics. The Director of Track and Field will provide consultation to the head coach on issues of travel, student-athlete recruiting, eligibility, academic progress, and life skills. This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, Coastal Athletic Association and the NCAA.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

Minimum Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution. This position requires travel during the week and weekends. Knowledge of NCAA & CAA rules/regulations. Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of track and field operations. One year of experience working within Division I collegiate athletics. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner with all departments of the University, Trustees, and external constituents. Experienced with office management procedures; proficient in all Microsoft Office applications. Previous experience in a college or university environment is required.
