About the Role:
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, have strong attention to detail, and demonstrate effective leadership and communication skills. As Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining the company's financial records and ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and timely reporting. You will also be responsible for leading an accounting and payroll team, along with managing third party service providers (e.g., external auditor, external tax providers, external software/system providers, consultants/contractors) and collaborate cross-functionally internally to deliver financial insights throughout the organization that drive business decisions.

Responsibilities :Guide a strong accounting team by developing the Accounting Manager and Payroll Manager roles and their teams by helping to organize responsibilities that align with business needs and individuals' interestsOversee the operations of the accounting department, including all accounting functions, payroll, and treasuryOversee the month-end, quarterly and annual close process, ensure a scalable, efficient, and accurate close process, and continuously seek areas of improvementProduce financial statements per US GAAP and related internal financial reporting requestsOverseeing the preparation and filing of the businesses' various tax filings with external tax service providersImprove and maintain controls to safeguard Company assets through documenting and recommending improvements to financial policies and proceduresLead Foxtrot's annual audit with external auditorsCollaborate and interact with Operations, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Development, and People teams to foster effective partnerships and surface financial insightsReport to CFO and CEO and work closely with management to support business objectivesAssist with the preparation of the operating budgets and reporting requestsEvaluate new and existing accounting tools and act as an administrator in the accounting, expense, inventory, and payroll systemsDevelop and implement standard desktop procedure documents, policies, processes, and proceduresRequirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA designation is preferred7+ Years of total experience, comprised of:4+ years of Public Accounting experience preferred.3+ years of accounting experience with retail or technology companies, with a focus on multi-unit retail environmentsA demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams with at least three years of management experienceStrong knowledge of US GAAP, accounting policies, and complianceAdministrator-level experience in QuickbooksAdvanced knowledge of Excel and BI toolsExcellent interpersonal communication skills with a focus on team developmentDemonstrated ability to interact effectively with various levels of the organization and vendorsLearner and problem-solver who isn't afraid to take on new challenges, question the status quo, all while knowing when to ask for helpResults-oriented, with a track record of scaling, leading, and driving efficienciesKey Candidate Experience:
Experience with start-up or high-growth companies, especially in a Corporate Controller roleMulti-unit retail experience, ideally with exposure to inventory managementBackground in both public accounting and in-house accounting rolesProven ability to build efficient close processes, reporting integrations, and convey actionable financial insightsA business-savvy Corporate Controller who understands the operational complexities of retail, including vendor management, inventory, and fixed assets
