Sr. Financial Analys t to help us decipher complexities and drive strategic decision-making. Housing Services is an auxiliary unit experiencing significant growth, and the department's ability to support its operational expenses (including debt service, facility renewal, and capital investments) in San Francisco's market poses unique challenges.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Systems and Finance, the Sr. Finance Analyst (SFA) will use skills as an experienced professional with an understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of budgetary issues in creative as well as practical ways.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Budget Development and ManagementCoordinate the annual budget development with managers and directors for each of their business linesEnsure Housing's financials are in line with the annual budget and business line accounts.Meet regularly with Housing sub-units to review financials for their business lines.Overseeing all accounting and financial transactions & processes
Oversee all Housing accounting and financial services operations including but not limited to billing, accounts receivables, accounts payable, recharges, purchasing, ledger verification, balance sheet reconciliation, cashiering, collections, and P-card management.Financial Analysis & Problem-solving
Identify, analyze, and explain the root causes for overages, shortages, losses, and gains,Research multiple factors for discrepancies by working with internal and external partners, pulling large amounts of data from different sources, and using complex formulas to highlight or summarize data in easy-to-understand reports/summaries for different audiences (from frontline staff to campus leadership and beyond).Selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions for moderate to complex accounting or financial operations and issues within Housing.Pulling data and creating simple to complex financial reports, executive summaries, and presentations as requested by leadership.Functioning as a unit liaison with various teams including but not limited to: UCSF IT, the Finance Service Center, the Controller's office, Supply Chain Management, and external vendors.Project and other duties as assigned.
As part of the Housing Systems & Finance team, the SFA will act as a team lead and will regularly collaborate with other Systems & Finance and Housing Services members. In total, UCSF is currently providing 1860+ rental opportunities within 47 buildings at the aforementioned properties.

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Have 3 years relevant experience.Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.Ability to independently gather required information to organize and perform financial analysis assignments.Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail.
